Coach Wilkins’ Bio:
Clark Wilkins began coaching as an assistant to his son in 1989. He got the nickname “Dumcoach” from the then “Tobey’s Football Forum” for college and high school coaches. At the time he was one of only two youth coaches on the forum and there was a demand that both of them be banned as such. He had to write his posts with the words “I’m just a dum youth coach but can anyone tell me how to…” in order to get any replies at all, signing his name as Dumcoach.
He became a HC in 1996. That same year, Tobey’s forum held a national contest sponsored by Annapolis (Navy) on how to defend a specific formation. He was the winner of the contest and the move to remove youth coaches from the forum was dropped. He was then asked by a Colorado coach on that forum how to beat Tom Osborne’s Nebraska offense. In response, he created the DC46 defense in 1997, one of the most successful youth defenses in history. After trial and error, he then created the DC Wing T offense around 2000. He retired in 2008 but continued to do clinics and run the Dumcoach.com forum and was OC for the Canada’s British Columbia’s youth cup tournament of 70 teams in 2009 and 2010, winning first place in 2009 and second in 2010. In 2011, he invented the DC Killer Bee, a defense noted for its ability to defend any offense, including Spread, DW, and UBSW.
